Child Safety Standards

Last Updated: May 21, 2026

1. Zero Tolerance and Reporting

Mandatory Disclosure: Kilbeans maintains a zero-tolerance policy for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and any content that endangers minors. We comply with all applicable global laws, including 18 U.S.C. ยง 2258A.

Any user found to be uploading, sharing, or soliciting illegal content involving minors will face an immediate, permanent device-level ban. We will report all such incidents, including routing metadata and IP addresses, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement agencies in Kenya and the user's jurisdiction.

2. 18+ Access and Age Verification

Kilbeans is strictly intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We utilize a multi-layered approach to enforce this restriction:

  • Age-Gating: All new users must provide a valid date of birth. Profiles indicating an age under 18 are blocked from registration.
  • Identity Integrity: We utilize technical fingerprints to prevent users previously banned for age violations from creating new accounts.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Our Honeypot security logic and human moderation teams scan for indicators of underage usage. If an account is suspected to belong to a minor, it is immediately suspended pending verification.

3. Prohibited Content and Conduct

Kilbeans prohibits any behavior that facilitates the harm of minors, even within our 18+ ecosystem. Prohibited acts include:

  • Grooming and Solicitation: Using the platform to establish relationships with minors for sexual exploitation or illegal acts.
  • Sextortion: Threatening to release sensitive images of a minor.
  • Non-Consensual Imagery: The distribution of sexual content involving minors (CSAM), whether AI-generated or real.
  • Dangerous Activities: Content that encourages minors to engage in harmful or illegal acts.

4. Safety Architecture and Detection

To ensure a safe environment, we employ an automated and human-led safety stack:

4.1 Automated Hashing

We utilize standardized industry hash-matching technology to detect known CSAM during the media upload process for Reels and Posts. These images/videos are blocked before they are ever visible to other users.

4.2 AI Moderation

Integrated AI models scan public text and unencrypted media for patterns associated with predatory behavior or the sexualization of children.

4.3 E2EE Safeguards

While Direct Messages are End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE), we provide users with tools to report content from within the encrypted bubble. Once reported, a copy of the specific message is transmitted to our safety team for review and reporting to NCMEC.

5. Reporting Tools for Users

We provide prominent, easy-to-use reporting mechanisms on every piece of content (Reels, Posts, and DMs). Users are encouraged to report any content that appears to involve a minor or illegal activity.

  1. One-Tap Reporting: Accessible via the "Report" button on any post or profile.
  2. Expedited Review: Reports categorized as "Child Safety" or "CSAM" are moved to a high-priority queue for immediate human intervention.
  3. Feedback Loop: We notify the reporter of the action taken while maintaining the privacy of our legal reporting process.
